Samsung Galaxy Note7 - Everything you need to know about this upcoming phablet

Tuesday, July 26, 2016

Samsung, a name, a brand, a company, that has rooted itself into almost everything in the world as we know it. Today, Samsung is known for setting benchmarks in the smartphone market. Samsung Galaxy S III and the Galaxy Note 2 were those devices that completely revolutionized the way smartphones were ever made. After this, the Galaxy S series and the Note series just kept growing year-by-year getting upgrades in one or the other aspect with every iteration.

This year again, Samsung made the consumers jump out of their chairs and grab the product away with the Galaxy S7 and the S7 edge. But this isn't going to be it. Just like every year, Samsung is going to release a new Note phone too, named, the Samsung Galaxy Note7. You all might be wondering "What happened to the Note 6?". Well, this year Samsung just decided to skip a number and jump to the Note 7. The reason for doing so was given by Samsung, which is:
First and foremost though, you might be curious as to why it’s called Galaxy Note7 instead of Galaxy Note6. There are a couple reasons why. First, the Galaxy Note7 will complement our Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, and unify our product portfolio. Second, the Galaxy Note7 will minimize confusion about the latest mobile technology from Samsung, and provide full alignment with Galaxy S smartphone.
Now that being said, let's take a look at the time of announcement for this potential market wrecker.

CCTV/DVR Footage/Video Recovery in India using Stellar Data Recovery

Friday, July 22, 2016

We live in a world that just cannot run without simple storage devices, as the 21st century is a complete digital book operating constantly on the logic of 0's and 1's. The storage devices like Hard Disk Drives, the newly implemented (insanely fast!) Solid State Drives etc are a very vital part of these systems.

As much as their names carry weight, so does their job. They collect all of the data that is important for the day-to-day functionality of the systems, but of course you all know that. But it becomes a real mess when these devices crash, or simply get damaged due to some reason and then there is also the most common unfortunate incident - deletion of that important data by mistake!

We just keep on using and storing such data without even caring or thinking about how important it is and what would happen if we can't access altogether one day. This is the part where there is a sense of panic, we all think about having to spend a hefty amount for getting that data back from the dead. Then we all fire up Google and start searching for something that we can do on our own to get out of this mess. The search results come up with techniques for "Data Recovery".

Recently, I was looking up for corrupted or damaged CCTV footage video recovery options as CCTV footage are very useful and sensitive data because these footages can be used for any evidence in court, and also, since these are used for security purpose, whichever storage devices are used to store them are hardware encrypted, that makes the recovery of the data all the more difficult.

Considering above points, I can easily conclude that CCTV footage recovery is not an easy task, as not everyone can do it independently. At this point, I came across a really good brand named "Stellar Data Recovery". It provides both - services and a great product, to recover faulty/deleted CCTV Footage. This is special because there aren't really many easy options for CCTV DVR Video Recovery out there.

AspectWise Review: Sorting Mobiles, Laptops, Tablets & more made easy

Smartphone market is ever-growing. Be it today or tomorrow, in this industry, we see different smartphones being launched in various markets across the globe. Talking specifically about India, every week a new phone is welcomed in the country in varying price segments. Referring HTC for once, couple of months back the Taiwanese manufacturer launched five devices in the country in a day targeting nearly every price bracket.

These many launches and introduction of new companies like LeEco, Zopo, Xiaomi, ZUK, LYF and more, not only fill the smartphone market with unwanted products, rather it also makes we, the buyer's, difficult to select the best one out in the market or say the one that suits our profile.

If we move a step further and select the device that suits our profile, online reviews and prices on different portals surely obfuscate us. Then the last option left is open all portals and scan every review and price and then find the average out of it.

Counting these problems, a newfangled startup named AspectWise has come up online with its own Artificial Intelligence trying to solve the above mentioned hiccups.

Specifications of Blackberry Neon, Argon and Mercury running on Android leaked

When Blackberry came into the market, it showed the success rate that can be compared to Apple to an extent, as it actually became a hefty status symbol in its own way. We can all agree that the Blackberry Curve series was the most successful line-up. But Blackberry lost its shine pretty quickly after the sudden jump of Android smartphones all over the world.

However, Blackberry is still considered by people working in the business sector even today. But then again, it's not really like it used to be a couple of years ago. So, Blackberry released their own Android smartphone named "Blackberry Priv" - an attempt by the company to get back in the game. But the consumers found it to be way too expensive for its own good.

Now, it seems that Blackberry is going to try again by releasing three (3) new Android smartphones codenamed Neon (Blackberry Hamburg), Argon and Mercury.

Blackberry Priv
Argon is going to be the high-end model of the three, sporting a full touch screen along with a fingerprint sensor. Neon is also going to have a full touch screen but made of a aluminium frame and a smooth plastic back. Now, Mercury is going to be cheaper than Argon but will be priced higher than Neon, sporting a 4.5-inch 1080p screen and a physical QWERTY keyboard (Remember Blackberry Passport?).

Here's our first look at the upcoming Google's Sailfish and Marlin devices

Thursday, July 7, 2016

It's no secret that this year's Nexus phones, codenamed Marlin and Saiflish, will be made by HTC. We are already aware of the specifications of both these devices and now, thanks to Android Police sources (referred as AP further), here's our first look at what the upcoming Nexuses will look like. Do note that the image below is not an actual press render, but a recreation based on evidence from a reliable source. Thus, couple of things may not be fully accurate.

While, both the HTC-made Sailfish and Marlin are expected to come with a 5-inch and 5.5-inch display respectively, they will sport similar design language. The exact dimensions and measurements of the phones are yet to be disclosed.

Though AP is rating this leak a confidence level of 8 out of 10, "the final design of the Nexus phones may differ slightly or perhaps even substantially from what you see here in certain respects", notes Android Police.

Google Sailfish / Marlin - Download
Things to note after you see the image are, the new Nexus devices will have curved corners and no more you will find camera hump, like on Nexus 6P or Nexus 5X. Also, the back of the phone will now feature two-tone look, with the upper one made of glass or glossy plastic featuring fingerprint scanner in typical Nexus position along with camera on the top left corner with three holes next to it. We will talk about those holes later in the post.

OxygenOS 3.2.0 update for OnePlus 3 brings sRGB mode, fixes RAM management issue; currently at halt

OnePlus 3 - Download
OnePlus is a company whose charts skyrocketed right after the release of its first flagship smartphone itself. Dare I say that this was one of the fastest market capturing in today's cut-throat competitive market. But then with second iteration of their product, the company was kind of in 'Rock meet Bottom' situation as they got a little over confident regarding some small features that are ought to be included in the so called "Flagship Killer of the year."

Then with the release of their latest flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 3, they have given the consumers a reason to believe that the people at OnePlus have actually learnt a lesson from their past mistakes. But as everyone say "Nothing is Perfect". The OnePlus 3 had its own issues after the release in the software segment, like inaccurate display and RAM management.

OnePlus stepped up and released an OTA update addressing issues that early reviewers pointed out. This release was previously rolled out to reviewers a couple of weeks ago versioned 3.1.4 and now the new firmware version 3.2.0 was rolled out to commercial units. But before it reached every device, OnePlus pulled the rollout. OnePlus says there have been reports of issues with the OTA, so they are temporarily halting the rollout. The update will be resumed as soon as possible.

The update weighs in at 396MB and brings following changes:

  • Enabled sRGB mode in developer options.
  • Improved RAM management.
  • Improved GPS performance.
  • Enhanced audio playback quality.
  • Updated custom icon packs.
  • Fixed some issues with notifications.
  • Improved camera quality/functionality.
  • Fixed some issues in Gallery.
  • Implemented latest Google security patches.
  • Fixed bugs in Clock/Music apps.

[Guide] How to Flash TWRP / Root / Unroot OnePlus 3

This guide will help you root your OnePlus 3 and make it even more amazing as you get superuser access after the completion of this guide and can do some really cool stuff at the system-level altogether. Now, we know that the OxygenOS running on the OnePlus 3 already has some inbuilt features, but there is always room for improvement.

Without wasting much time, here's "How to Flash TWRP / Root / Unroot OnePlus 3"

Disclaimer

Follow the guide on your own risk. We will not be held responsible if your device stops working. Make sure you read and fully understand it before attempting it. If, in-case you brick your device or need any help, then do comment below.

Pre-requisites

Rooting the OnePlus 3 is a fairly easy procedure, but we do recommend that you read and understand the guide properly. If you don't know it, don't do it.

Rooting

It gives you superuser permissions i.e. you can perform both read and write operations into the system memory. Root can be achieved by just flashing a zip file containing the SuperSU binaries with the help of a custom recovery (TWRP recommended). Also there are some custom ROMs that are pre-rooted, so flashing one will get the work done.

Now, before you proceed with the instructions, some pointers:

Instructions (FLASHING TWRP)

  • First and foremost, download the recovery.img file from here and place it on the desktop.
  • Now, turn off your phone and boot it into fastboot mode. This can be done by holding volume up + power buttons.
  • Make sure that the file downloaded using above link is named "recovery.img". If not, then rename the file to "recovery.img" and not "recovery.img.img".
  • Open a new command prompt window on desktop and run the following command:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
  • Once the flash has completed, unplug your phone and manually boot it into recovery by pressing power + volume down button
  • In TWRP, select Reboot and then select System.
  • Grats, you have flashed TWRP successfully.

Now, let's move ahead and understand how to root your OnePlus 3.

Android 7.0 Nougat
We have all seen Android grow from scratch to literally everything. There was a time when no one even knew about the existence of Android. Now, majority of us are seen with an Android smartphone. This was possible only because of the smart and innovative work by the folks at Google. Everyone noticed the huge step-up in the development of Android after the success of Android 4.2 JellyBean. Google launches a new version of Android every year with new features and improvements.

This year again, Google is here with a new version of Android officially named "Android 7.0 Nougat". I know everyone was really rooting for it to be "Nutella" rather than anything else (including me), being favorite of almost everyone worldwide.

Anyways, keeping all those things aside let's look at all the features and improvements Android 7.0 Nougat is bringing along.

Multi-Window (Finally!!)

All the Android enthusiasts have seen several OEMs like Samsung and LG adapting Multi-Window feature in their own modified version of Android, which made many users envy, that were having a device from the nexus line-up or any other such OEM products. Google has finally included the multi-window mode support in Nougat.

But don't get too excited about this, as developers will have to add support for multi-window into their apps. After doing that, Android 7.0 will manage the rest on its own. This means users now won't have any excuse to chose OEMs over the ones that include stock Android.

Android Nougat Multi-Window

Bye Bye Bloatware!

Yes! It's official. Vendors now do not have to include all the Google apps as a standard rule stated by Google. This means, apps like Google Newsstand, Google Play games and many other such apps, that do not really see the light of day on your phone, will not be pre-installed to hog on that memory of your device.

Doze Mode

Google had introduced a new way of saving battery in Android Marshmallow named "Doze." It basically made your phone go to a "Deep Hibernation" state when the screen is off and the phone is stationary for a certain period of time. Now, the doze mode will work in a two way manner. First, the doze mode will kick in the moment your screen goes off, regardless of it being stationery. Second, the same as it was in Marshmallow, but only improved.

This means, there maybe a chance that our phone might hold up for more than a day's usage.

Revamped Settings

The settings menu has completely been redesigned. In the developer previews, the only change from that of the previous versions were, more information regarding the sub-menu below its name.

But now, there is a complete hamburger button or say, a sidebar at the left in order to access the sub-menu of the settings. This a much welcomed change to the interface as it does look better than the previous iterations.
