How To Install Official Android 4.0.4 ICS Firmware on Samsung Galaxy Music

Samsung Galaxy Music is a device that designed for music lovers. The device comes with Android 4.0.4 ICS out of the box and will receive Android 4.1.1 or Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean sooner or later officially. Recently Samsung rolled out S6010XXALK1 Android 4.0.4 ICS update that expected to comes with minor fixes and performance improvement. The S6010XXALK1 Android 4.0.4 ICS update now available in KIES. Pre-Requisites


  • We recommend you to take a backup of the data in your phone. After installing the Stock ROM, all the files and data will be deleted. Then you can restore the important files and data from the backup file.

  • Videos, Images, Songs and Other Files – Copy to internal / External SD card or System
  • APN Settings – Take Manual Note from “Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names"
  • Then maintain minimum 60% charge in your phone’s battery. This will help you to don’t get switched of your phone.
  • And disable any antivirus and firewalls too.
  • You must have KIES or Samsung Driver Installed on your PC.

Here is the step-by-step guide on how to install S6010XXALK1 Android 4.0.4 ICS firmware on Samsung Galaxy Music, model number S6010. The process is pretty simple. First you need to download S6010XXALK1 Android 4.0.4 ICS firmware zip file and ODIN zip. Then, follow the below guide to get helpful instructions.

How to update Galaxy Music to Official XXALK1 Android 4.0.4 ICS Firmware -


  1. Extract Firmware zip file that you downloaded already from above link, you will get a .tar file and some other files.
  2. Extract Odin zip file and you will get Odin3 v3.07.exe along with few other files.
  3. Power off your smartphone. Wait 5-6 seconds for vibration to confirm complete switch off.
  4. Now, put the Galaxy Music in Download Mode by pressing and holding Volume Down, Home and Power button until Samsung Galaxy logo appears in phone screen. Wait few seconds and your phone will be in download mode.
  5. Now run Odin3 v1.85.exe (see Step 2) as an Administrator because Admin privileges is required to complete the process smoothly.
  6. Now connect your Galaxy Music S6010 with your PC using USB cable. A message will arrive under Odin’s message box in the bottom left saying “Added!!”. If you don’t get the same then you should try another USB port (try USB port located in back in your desktop PC). If that too don’t work then you should then re-install the driver. If you successfully see the “Added!!” message in Odin then you are ready to go in next step. You should also see ID:COM port with a number in Yellow if you successfully added your device.
  7. Select these files from S6010XXALK1 folder [see Step 1] in Odin at respective tabs:
    1. Click the PDA Button, and select the .tar file here with *code* appearing in its name
    2. Click the Phone Button, and select file with *modem* in its name (leave if there is no such file)
    3. Click the CSC Button, and select file with *csc* in its name (leave if there is no such file)
  8. In Odin window, make sure Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checkboxes are selected.
  9. Double check everything that we mentioned in Step 7 & Step 8 above. Now, once satisfied hit the START button to begin the flashing process.
  10. Once flashing completed, you will see a PASS message with green background in the left-most box at the very top of the Odin. The phone will then automatically rebooted and soon you will see the Samsung logo. You can then unplug the USB cable to disconnect your device from computer.
Note:
If Galaxy Music S6010 stuck at booting animation after Step 10 then go to recovery mode (press and hold the Volume UpHome and Power buttons together) and perform Wipe data/Factory Reset task before selecting reboot system now function. In recovery mode use Volume keys to navigate between options and Power key to select the option.
