As promised, Gionee has officially launched the world's slimmest smartphone, the Gionee Elife S5.5 in India today. The smartphone was originally announced last month in China, and is just 5.5 mm thin. The Elife S5.5 comes in a slew of color options such as Black, White, Purple, Pink and Blue and is priced at Rs. 22,999. According to Gionee, the Elife S5.5 will be available in India starting April 27th.

Couple of days ago we reported that Google is working on a fix for the Nexus 5 camera bug that overuses the CPU of the device and drains the battery at a pretty fast pace. LG has started rolling out the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the LG G2 in India. The update was first rolled out in Korea in late-December 2013, then in the last week of February it was available for AT&T users, and then last week International variant of LG G2 got the KitKat update. Now the update is available in India as well.

Samsung originally announced the fifth generation Galaxy S series smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S5 this year at MWC in Barcelona. The Korean giant at the event revealed that the smartphone will go on sale on April 11th globally. Now, Samsung has started sending out press invites to the Indian tech press media for attending an event on March 27th, where the company will be debuting the Galaxy S5 in the country.

Update: LG L90 is now available for purchase from online retailer Snapdeal. Snapdeal is selling the smartphone for Rs. 17,499, which is almost Rs. 1,500 less than the Infibeam pre-order pricing. Snapdeal notes that the orders will be dispatched in 12 business days, which means actual availability of L90 will start from first week of April.
