As scheduled, Lenovo has officially announced the Lenovo P2 smartphone in the Indian market. The Lenovo P2 is successor to Lenovo's P1 smartphone launched last year and comes with massive 5100mAh battery. The device comes with mid-range specifications and will be available in India in two variants — 3GB RAM and 4GB RAM.

According to Lenovo, the device will be available in Champagne Gold and Graphite Gray colors. Lenovo has priced the 3GB RAM variant of P2 at Rs. 16,999, whereas the 4GB RAM variant will cost you Rs. 17,999. The device will be available exclusively from Flipkart starting mid-night with various launch day offers. We will update the post as soon as we hear more about the offers.

Lenovo P2 comes with a metal unibody design with fingerprint scanner on the front of the device. Like every mid-range device, the P2 also comes with dual-SIM support (hybrid SIM slot).

Lenovo has included TheaterMax technology in P2 which provide immersive VR experience when used with ANT VR headset.

On the specifications front, Lenovo P2 comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display with 100% NTSC color gamut. The device is powered by 2GHz octa-core 14nm Snapdragon 625 processor with Adreno 506 GPU. For multi-tasking activities it has 3GB / 4GB of RAM and it runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box.

Update (Jan 7, 2017): Lenovo has confirmed that it is launching the Lenovo P2 smartphone in India on January 11th. The upcoming Lenovo P2 smartphone will be available exclusively from Flipkart.

Earlier (Jan 3, 2017): Lenovo is soon going to launch a new mid-range smartphone in the Indian market. Called Lenovo P2, the smartphone was originally introduced back in September 2016 at IFA and comes with mammoth 5100 mAh battery. The device is an addition to company's P series of smartphones.

Lenovo revealed this news via a tweet by Lenovo India. The device comes in gold and gray color options. Pricing, availability and launch details of Lenovo P2 are yet to be disclosed.


Talking of specifications, Lenovo P2 features a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display, powered by 2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor with Adreno 506 GPU, 3GB/4GB RAM and runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box.

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Lenovo had announced two budget Android smartphones in the Indian market last month. Dubbed as Lenovo A6000 Plus and Lenovo A7000, the former is an upgraded version of the Lenovo A6000, whereas the latter was originally unveiled at the MWC 2015 in March.

Lenovo has officially announced the launch of its affordable 4G LTE enabled smartphone in the country earlier this week. As assured the vendor has launched the Lenovo A6000 smartphone in India, which was unveiled at the CES 2015 tech show last week and carriers the credit for being the most affordable 4G device from the firm.

On Monday, at the CES 2015, Lenovo unveiled the Vibe X2 Pro and Lenovo P90 smartphones. The Lenovo Vibe X2 Pro is the upgraded variant of Vibe X2 and its pricing is not disclosed while it is claimed to be released in April. Same way, the price tag of the P90 is also not announced and it will debut on sale starting from February.

It was only recently that Google sold Motorola to China based Lenovo and now, there are gossips regarding the first phone to be sprouting from the two makers. In an interview, revealed by the official China Mobile Alliance Weibo account of Zhang Hui of Lenovo, it is stated that Motorola and Lenovo will be jointly launching a phone that will go official in October or November this year.

We know we are late, but still, if you are unaware, Google has announced that they are selling off the Motorola Mobility to Lenovo. According to Google's blog post, the Chinese electronic giant Lenovo will pay $2.91 billion to acquire Motorola Mobility smartphone business. To remind you, Google acquired Motorola for a blasting $12.5 billion in 2012, which makes the sale price seem suspiciously low.
