Oppo, earlier today, has silently launched a new mid-range Android smartphone in the Indian market. Dubbed as Oppo R1, the smartphone was originally announced back in December 2013 in China and comes with decent set of specifications. The Oppo R1 comes in black and white colours and is priced at Rs. 26,990, which is way too much for a smartphone with MediaTek processor.

Last month an unknown Samsung smartphone with built-in projector was spotted on Chinese certification site TENAA. The smartphone was reported to be the successor of two year old Galaxy Beam and was predicted to come with moniker Samsung Galaxy Beam 2. Now, Samsung has officially listed the Galaxy Beam 2 on its Chinese website. The Galaxy Beam 2, similar to the original Beam comes with a built-in mini-projector and has a metallic build.

Samsung is getting a habit of launching a mini version of the flagship device and it soon intends on launching the Galaxy S5 Mini to follow up the launch of the Galaxy S5. The Galaxy S5 Mini will come with IP67 certification and this bit of news has been confirmed by Samsung New Zealand on its website (now removed).

In some warranty information, it was mentioned that the S5 Mini’s warranty will become void if it is submerged in water for more than 30 minutes and the same is true for the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S4 Active as well. The Galaxy S5 Mini’s IP67 certification will cover device being submerged in 1 meter of water for more than 30 minutes.

As per previous rumours, the Galaxy S5 Mini will come with a 4.5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, quad-core Snapdragon processor, 1.5GB RAM, Android 4.4 KitKat with TouchWiz UI on top, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, 16GB internal storage with expandable using microSD card and a 2,100 mAh battery.

The S5 Mini is also reported to come with IR blaster. No information is available on whether the S5 Mini will sport a heart rate sensor or fingerprint scanner or both. Pricing and availability details are yet unknown, but according to earlier reports, the Galaxy S5 Mini will be launched sometime in June, with S5 Zoom (aka Galaxy K) on April 29th in Singapore.

China based Xiaomi has announced its expansion plans and has claimed that the firm will be entering ten new markets including India this year. The expansion plan have been revealed at a press conference in Beijing. The company also stated its plans on Twitter posting a tweet reading, "Xiaomi is coming to 10 countries in 2014! Malaysia, Philippines, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Russia, Turkey, Brazil and Mexico..."
