Micromax had officially launched a new budget Android smartphone in the Indian market last month. Dubbed as Micromax Canvas Spark, the smartphone comes with mid-range specifications and had been priced very aggressively, to compete with the likes of Xiaomi Redmi 2, Lenovo A6000 and Moto E (2nd Gen).

As promised, Micromax's sub-brand YU Televentures on Thursday at an press event in New Delhi officially announced the launch of its first smartphone running on CyanogenMod OS. Dubbed as YU Yureka, the smartphone comes with mid-range specifications and is priced very aggressively. The Yureka is made in collaboration with Cyanogen Inc.

Micromax Canvas Selfie with 13MP front facing camera launched in India

Micromax at IPTL on Monday officially took the wraps off the company's latest smartphone called the Micromax Canvas Selfie. As the name suggests, the smartphone is focused towards selfie lovers and comes with 13MP front facing camera with LED flash, similar to the HTC Desire Eye. The Canvas Selfie comes in White and Blue colours and will be available across the country starting second week of January 2015. There is no word on pricing details yet.

Micromax Canvas Xpress launched exclusively on Flipkart for Rs. 6,999

Micromax has officially launched a new budget-Android smartphone in the Indian market. Dubbed as Micromax Canvas Xpress, the smartphone comes with entry-level specifications and is a new addition in the company's Canvas series of smartphones. The Canvas Xpress comes in blue and silver colours and is priced at Rs. 6,999. The smartphone is exclusively available from online retailer Flipkart.

Micromax sue OnePlus, Delhi HC orders to stop importing and selling OnePlus One in the country

Lately, the popular Chinese vendor Xiaomi was banned in India to sell its offerings as it infringed with the patents of Ericsson. Now, it appears like it is the turn of OnePlus that has marked its first anniversary, though the reason for the ban is different. The Delhi High Court has banned the Chinese firm from marketing, selling and importing the OnePlus One smartphones to India.

Micromax brags exclusive rights at CyanogenMod in India, Indian OnePlus One WON'T get software updates [Update]

UPDATE: After a week filled with full of confusion between OnePlus, and Cyanogen and Micromax deal, Cyanogen Inc. has now again clarified that the OnePlus One sold in India (via Amazon India) won't be getting any future updates, as a part of Micromax-exclusive deal. 

Only the global OnePlus One (purchased from outside India) will be getting the future CyanogenMod updates. 

Since we clarified our support for OTA firmware updates for OnePlus One global devices, we’ve received a number of inquiries regarding OnePlus One devices sold in India.

As we had pledged to our users, OnePlus One global devices will receive our OTA firmware updates. If a user in India purchased a OnePlus One global device in channels outside of India, they will receive our OTA firmware updates. However, this excludes OnePlus One regional devices sold directly in India. We are committed to our exclusive partnership in India with Micromax, which will be launching its first Cyanogen OS device under their new YU brand.

Lately, Micromax announced its YU brand of smartphones that will arrive with the CyanogenMod OS pre-installed. Now, it has been confirmed that Cyanogen platform will be exclusive only to Micromax when it comes to rolling out software updates. Cyanogen has signed an agreement to provide exclusive rights to Micromax for the use of the platform in the country.

Micromax announces YU brand in partnership with Cyanogen Inc, first YU smartphone launching in December

Few days back, the second largest handset manufacturer in the country, Micromax announced its new subsidiary, YU Televentures that will be releasing devices under the YU brand starting from the next month.
