LG may have had a big year in 2012, with the release of the Optimus 4X HD, the Optimus G, and the Nexus 4, but they still have done nothing to get rid of their tarnished reputation when it comes to OS updates. Apart from the Nexus 4, even the company’s high-end models are still stuck on Android 4.0, with their mid-range devices still running Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

LG Optimus Black
Well, after a long wait, Optimus Black would be receiving an official update to Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich,  the rollout has finally reached the shores of India. The update, which takes the OS version to Android 4.0.4, is currently available from the LG Mobile Support Tool. We have no indication yet as to whether the update will eventually be available OTA, or will only be possible via the desktop tool. You can check for an OTA update by following the simple instructions here.

The upgrade to Android 4.0.4 will introduce standard ICS features such as folders, smoother multi-tasking, and faster performance, along with some UI enhancements from LG including updated gesture features, smoother boot animation, and the availability of the LG Quick Memo app.
