Google Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 KitKat update are the hottest topic of October 2013. The Nexus 5 has been leaked numerous of times, each time running Android 4.4, revealing some or the other new stuff. The last leak on Nexus 5 and KitKat revealed new camera UI, miracast and integrated payments and printing feature. And the latest leak reveals the revamped app drawer, lock-screen, and new addition in location options, and more on Tap & Pay feature. The leaked images, allegedly showing the upcoming Nexus 5 running on Android 4.4 KitKat, come from Italian blog TuttoAndroid.

Android 4.4 KitKat UI

Starting with location in settings, the Android 4.4 update will bring new location options. The update will add three new modes under the settings, which will help you select how your phone tracks your location selecting between three modes,
  • High accuracy: which uses your phone's GPS, Wi-Fi and Mobile Network to estimate the location, this mode is most accurate and consumes the most battery.
  • Battery saving: which uses your Wi-Fi and Mobile Network to estimate the location, this mode saves battery.
  • Device sensor: this will use your phone's GPS to pinpoint your location.
There is also a new Google Location History setting aka recent location requests section, which provides a list of recent apps that have accessed your phone's location.

The payments feature has been renamed to Tap & Pay. This feature will allow you to pay for goods or services using Google Wallet NFC payments, and manage them.

Coming to user interface changes, the new images reveals that there will be a major update of app drawer in Android 4.4, with minor changes in lockscreen UI.

The lockscreen will now have a small camera icon in the corner, which can be dragged to use the camera app directly from lock-screen. There is also a way to drag the screen itself to the left to access the camera app, like in current versions of Android.

The images also reveals a new app drawer and phone icon, with 6 panels on this device. The app drawer is now using the wallpaper image, rather than black background as on the current stock version. The icons on the app drawer are now bigger, and the grid has been changed to 5x4 from 5x5.

To remind you all, LG Nexus 5 will come with a 4.95-inch Full HD IPS TFT LCD display, 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, Adreno 330 GPU, 2GB RAM, Android 4.4 KitKat, 16GB/32GB fixed internal storage, 8MP rear camera with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), 1.3MP front camera, 2,300mAh battery and wireless charging support.

Google Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 KitKat are rumoured to get unveiled officially on 15th October. According to Google Launchpad event, the Nexus 5 will be officially announced on Oct 15th, and will be available from October 31st night.
