Indian smartphone manufacturer Micromax will be launching its devices in Russia and Romania by the end of this year, reports The Hindu Business Line (HBL). Micromax is already no. 2 smartphone player in India with 22% marketshare and wants to expand itself by being a global brand.
Currently, Micromax is selling its devices in Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri-Lanka, Maldives, UAE, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Afghanistan and Brazil.
According to HBL report, Micromax has already set up shops in Russia and has hired employees from rival companies. The company will be launching couple of products designed specifically for the local market. Micromax has also partnered with Yandex, Russia's largest search engine for applications.
Also, the company recently roped Hollywood A-list actor Hugh Jackman as its brand ambassador for Canvas-series smartphones. The first smartphone to feature Mr. Jackman is the Canvas Turbo, Micromax's first FHD smartphone.
