Soon after Google released the Android 4.4 KitKat everyone was thinking of the L version of Android. At the Google I/O 2014, the search engine giant showed a demo of the next key iteration of Android that will be going official this fall. While it is referred to as Android L for now, the final moniker of the same will be revealed at the time of its announcement.
Right from the release of the Android 4.4 KitKat platform, there were numerous speculations regarding the codename of Android L with suggestions for Lollipop and Liquorice. But, it appears like Google will be naming the upcoming major release as Lamington, an Australian dessert.
The Android Lamington has been spotted in the new Developing Android Apps: Android Fundamentals course of Google developed with the team of Udacity. This course went official on July 15th and a slide mentions Meringue (image below) as the alleged name of Android M that is slated for 2015. However, this does not confirm the authenticity of the final name of the next major Android release.
With the Android Lamington moniker, the Australian fans will surely be delighted, but it will definitely shatter the dreams of the Indian Android enthusiasts who were pushing Google hard to name it as Android Ladoo.
