Chinese smartphone manufacturer Gionee made all the heads turn towards it with the launch of the Gionee Elife S5.5 with a thin 5.5mm profile. Now, it appears like the vendor is planning to break its own record as TENAA has certified a mid-ranger codenamed Gionee GN9005 that is even thinner measuring only 5mm thick.

Not only does the alleged handset brag the record for its thinness, but it also weighs pretty light at 94.6 grams. In addition, it also has managed to consolidate all the components such as the camera into its thin build leaving no protruding aspects.

When it comes to specifications, the mid-ranger appears to have a 4.8-inch HD AMOLED display and employ a 1.2GHz quad-core processor alleged to be the Cortex-A7 chipset paired with 1GB of RAM. Running on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, the Gionee GN9005 is said to include an 8 MP primary snapper and a 5MP front-facing snapper.

Other features onboard are tipped to be 16GB of native storage capacity without any facility to expand it further, LTE connectivity and a 2,050 mAh battery that should suffice in powering the thin handset. The smartphone measures 139.8 x 67.4 x 5.0mm.

Having passed the TENAA certification, the Gionee GN9005 has the China specific TD-LTE and bears China Mobile logo at the back and there is no details regarding its pricing or availability or launch. Expect to hear more about the GN9005 in the coming days.
