The newly announced smartphone from the company OnePlus called the OnePlus One has managed to seek a lot of attention of consumers as it is a high-end flagship device that is priced pretty low. Launched officially in April, it appears like the handset will be heading to India pretty soon. The official forums of OnePlus reveal the level of interest the handset has generated in India.
“Over the past months, we’ve seen tremendous interest from India, despite not having launched there. We have many customers in India purchasing to the US, and then asking a friend to bring it over or trans-shipping it. Some have even purchased the device from scalpers. Looking at our traffic, India ranks number 8, outweighing many of our launch countries.”
This does not confirm the official launch of the device in the country, but it definitely indicates that the OnePlus One will hit the stores sometime soon. Before heading to India, OnePlus will have to resolve some issues that are pertaining in the market with the other such vendors such as insufficient stocks.
The OnePlus One is available in a couple of color options like Silk White and Sandstone Black. The 16GB variant of OnePlus One is priced at $299 (approx. Rs 18,000) and the 64GB variant is priced at $349 (approx. 21,000).
Specifications-wise, OnePlus One is fitted with a 5.5-inch Full HD display with screen resolution of 401 pixels per inch and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating for scratch resistance. The handset is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC that has a quad-core processor clocked at 2.5GHz paired with a large 3GB of RAM for efficient multi-tasking.
Storage wise, the handset houses 16GB and 64GB of internal storage options that cannot be expanded as there is no microSD card. Also onboard is a 13MP primary snapper that is teamed up with a 5MP front-facer for making video calls and clicking selfies. Other goodies of the OnePlus One are WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, 4G LTE and a 3,100 mAh with Android 4.4 KitKat based CyanogenMod11S on top.
