Motorola has announced the Droid Turbo officially putting the restless rumors and speculations to rest. The
device is the flagship smartphone of the Droid lineup meant exclusively for US carrier Verizon
Wireless. The Motorola Droid Turbo comes with monstrous specifications and is now available from Verizon's retailers and online store in 32GB and 64GB variants at $199.99 and $249.99 respectively on a contract of two years.
On the specifications front, the
Droid Turbo is given a 5.2-inch Quad HD AMOLED display with resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and a pixel density of 565 pixels per inch. Furthermore,
there is Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection for scratch resistance. Powering
the smartphone is a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor ticking at 2.7GHz clock
speed. This is supplemented by Adreno 420 GPU and 3GB of RAM.
Storage wise, there are two
different storage options - 32GB and 64GB that cannot be expanded as there is
no expandable microSD card slot. Fueled by Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating
system, the Droid Turbo boasts of a 21MP primary snapper with dual LED flash
and 4K video recording capability. Also on-board is a 2MP front-facing camera for video conferencing and clicking selfies.
The Droid Turbo includes connectivity
features such as 4G LTE / 3G, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS with GLONASS and NFC and
there is a mammoth 3,900 mAh battery in the device that is rated to deliver up
to 48 hours of backup to the smartphone.
There is a water resistant build on
the Droid Turbo and it comes packed with the MinuteCast feature that predicts
the minute when it will rain or snow or hail for the next two hours based on the user’s
location. THe phone also comes with turbo charging feature and wireless charging support.
