On the occasion of Republic Day, Taiwanese multinational company Asus has introduced a new variant of the Zenfone 5 in the country. This new variant of Zenfone 5 holds similar model number as original Zenfone 5, but comes with downgraded processor and lower price tag. Like other Asus smartphones, the new Zenfone 5 variant is also exclusively available from Flipkart for just Rs. 7,999.
According to Asus, this new variant doesn't come with any headset. The company has also revealed that that 8GB variant of Asus Zenfone 5 will now retail for Rs. 9,499 and the 16GB variant will cost just Rs. 9,999.
On the specifications front, the new Asus Zenfone 5 comes with a 5-inch HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, 1.2GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2520 processor, 2GB RAM and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Zen UI, which is upgradable to Android 4.4 KitKat. The smartphone comes with dual-SIM support and is 10.34 mm thick and weights 145 grams.
Other specifications include an 8MP rear camera with LED flash, 2MP front-facing camera, 8GB internal memory which is expandable up to 64GB via microSD card and 2110 mAh battery. Connectivity series include 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS.
