Xiaomi to mark its 5th anniversary celebration, had announced an affordable variant of its Redmi 2 smartphone dubbed as Xiaomi Redmi 2A. Redmi 2A is the most affordable Xiaomi smartphone, priced at just 599 Yuan, which roughly converts to $96 or Rs. 6,143. Like original Redmi 2, the Redmi 2A also comes in range of color options including White, Dark Gray, Bright Yellow, Light Green and Pink colors.
Xiaomi Redmi 2A packs in similar specifications as Redmi 2, with only difference in processor. Instead of 64-bit Snapdragon 410 processor, the Redmi 2A is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core Leadcore L1860C processor, which offers Mali-T628MP2 dual-core GPU.
Other specifications of the smartphone include the same 4.7-inch HD IPS display, 1GB RAM, Android 4.4 KitKat with MIUI v6 on top, dual-SIM support, 8GB internal storage with expandable up to 128GB using microSD card, 8MP rear camera with LED flash, 2MP front facing camera and 2,200 mAh battery.
The phone also supports fast charging. Connectivity series include 4G LTE support, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. There is no word on global roll-out of Redmi 2A yet.
Xiaomi in addition had also announced a 55-inch version of Xiaomi Mi TV 2, Pink Edition Mi Note, and two Smart devices, Mi Smart Scale and Mi Power Strip. You can read about them here.
