Xiaomi to launch 6.44-inch BIG Mi Max in India on June 30th

Xiaomi's VP Hugo Barra has announced on Twitter that the company is all set to launch “Something BIG” in the country on June 30th. Going by the teaser it is clear that Xiaomi will be launching Mi Max in India. Xiaomi Mi Max is company's first phablet, and was announced in China last month. The device comes with gigantic display and mammoth battery.

Xiaomi Mi Max launched in China comes in two variants — higher end model with Snapdragon 652 processor (3GB RAM + 64GB ROM / 4GB RAM + 128GB ROM) and lower end model with Snapdragon 650 processor (3GB RAM + 32GB ROM).

In China, the lower-end Mi Max is priced at RMB 1499 (~ $228 / Rs. 15,335) and the higher end one with 3GB RAM + 64GB ROM costs RMB 1699 (~ $259 / Rs. 17,381) and the one with 4GB RAM + 128GB costs RMB 1999 (~ $304 / Rs. 20,450).

Judging by the China pricing, we can expect Xiaomi to price the base variant of Mi Max in the country at around Rs. 15,000, though it is unclear which variants will be launched.

Talking of specifications, Xiaomi Mi Max comes with a 6.44-inch Full HD IPS ​display with 2.5D curved glass, Hexa-Core Snapdragon 650 / Octa-Core Snapdragon 652 processor with Adreno 510 GPU, 3GB RAM / 4GB RAM and Android 6.0 Marshmallow with MIUI 8 on top. The device measures 173.1 x 88.3 x 7.5mm and weights 203 grams.

Other specifications include a 16MP rear camera with dual-tone LED Flash, f/2.0 aperture and PDAF, a 5MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and 85-degree wide-angle lens, 32GB / 64GB / 128GB internal storage which is expandable using microSD card and whooping 4,850mAh battery.

​On the connectivity front, the Mi Max comes with Hybrid dual-SIM slot (micro + nano/microSD), 4G LTE with VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac MIMO, Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS + GLONASS. The device comes in three colors — Gray, Silver, Gold and includes fingerprint sensor on the rear and infrared sensor.
