OnePlus 3T with Snapdragon 821, 16MP front camera, 3400mAh battery officially announced

OnePlus in a surprising move has officially took the wraps off a new variant of OnePlus 3 smartphone at community-powered event streamed on Facebook. Dubbed as OnePlus 3T, the smartphone is a new addition in company's portfolio and is its latest flagship model after original OnePlus 3. Hardware-wise, OnePlus 3T brings faster processor, better camera and expanded battery to original 3.

The new OnePlus 3T comes in two color options - Gunmetal and Soft Gold. Additionally, the device will be available in two storage options - 64GB and 128GB, both with 6GB of RAM. Soft Gold OnePlus 3T will be made available in just 64GB variant, like its younger brother.

On the pricing front, OnePlus has priced the 3T at US$439 / EUR€439 / GBP£399 for 64GB variant ($40 more than the OnePlus 3 debut price) and US$479 / EUR€479 / GBP£439 for 128GB variant. The device will be made available in the United States and Canada starting November 22 and in Europe starting November 28.

Talking of design, OnePlus 3T looks exactly similar to original OnePlus 3. According to OnePlus, 3T comes with most refined version of Oxygen OS till date. Both, OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T will continue getting software updates at same pace. OnePlus has also confirmed that both the devices will be getting Android 7.1 Nougat update before year-end.

When asked "What the 'T' in 3T stands for?", OnePlus's head of marketing Kyle Kiang told Mashable that "Some people use 'S' (a clear reference to Apple) and OnePlus decided to use 'T' — just because it's one letter after S. It's one plus."
