LG has announced that they will start releasing 4G LTE TDD Smartphones in 6 countries later this year. They will start the launch from Saudi Arabia with its flagship device, LG Optimus G on the Saudi Telecom Company (STC) Network. Later on, they will launch the Smartphones in other countries like China, India, North America, Japan and Australia.

LTE TDD allows receiving and transmitting to occur on the same frequency at different times, unlike Long Term Evolution Frequency Division Duplexing (LTE FDD) which assigns two different frequencies for transmitting and receiving data. This uses a narrow band for uploading and a wider band for downloading heavier content such as video and music for more efficient transmission of data.

"LTE TDD is a superior alternative in some countries due to its flexibility in uploading and downloading content," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. "We're excited to offer consumers LTE TDD capable smartphones based on our unparalleled knowhow in 4G LTE technologies. With the commercial introduction of LTE TDD service, LG will build upon its expertise in 4G LTE by offering future device options utilizing this standard."

Most of the Indian Telecom Company are providing 4G network in India including Airtel which is using LTE TDD Technology, so it makes sense for LG to acquire the empty space as quickly as possible. LG has launched Optimus G in India earlier this year, but it doesn't support LTE. So, we may expect LG to launch Optimus G Pro in India with LTE TDD 4G which is their this year Flagship device and is coming in India around June or July.
