Dual-Boot Android & Ubuntu Touch, Ubuntu Edge Officially announced with 4GB RAM, 128GB Storage

Canonical, the main mind behind the development of the Ubuntu Touch and the forthcoming mobile rendering of the OS, has announced the launch of their first Ubuntu smartphone. The smartphone is dubbed as Ubuntu Edge, and is the smartphone with overloaded specifications. Ubuntu Edge is the smartphone, for which everyone might be waiting from so long. The smartphone not only runs on Ubuntu Touch OS, but it is also powered to run Android side-by-side.

Canonical is asking for $32 million fund on Indiegogo to build the smartphone. The company has started a funding campaign on Indiegogo.com, where they are asking consumers to put in their money on the smartphone and are hoping to complete the $32 million mark in just 31 days, which is roughly $1 million per day. Till now the company has collected over $6 million.

Those who wish to buy this next-generation smartphone can now reserve one Ubuntu Edge unit for themselves by paying out $775 today.  The specification of the smartphone is listed below. The company will start the shipping of Ubuntu Edge from May, 2014 on-wards with official announcement talking place in 2014.
