The much-anticipated device of 2014 from Samsung, as of now, is none other than Samsung Galaxy S5. The Galaxy S series often tend to get a lot of press, be in rumours, leaks and exclusive insider stories. Till now, we have heard a lot about Galaxy S5 and today one of the expected Galaxy S5 variant, with model number SM-G900F, has shown up in AnTuTu benchmark database revealing key features of the smartphone.
According to AnTuTu, the SM-G900F is "almost sure" the international variant of Galaxy S5. The smartphone scores very less 29,223 points, confirming it to be a test device, rather than the final build.
The listing reveals that SM-G900F comes with a screen resolution of 1920×1080p Full HD instead of 2650×1440p Quad HD, this is because Samsung has locked the screen of G900F at that resolution, since it's a prototype. However, it is confirmed that Samsung's upcoming flagship smartphone will definitely feature 2K QHD display.
To remind you all, few days ago an unknown Samsung smartphone holding model number SM-G900S was spotted on GFXBench website, which revealed that the device comes with a 2K display, 2.5GHz processor and Android 4.4 KitKat OS. It is possible that SM-G900F and SM-G900S be different variants of Galaxy S5 for different carriers but with similar specifications. Like, according to serial leaker evleaks, AT&T is testing an SM-G900A with high-resolution screen, probably Galaxy S5.
Coming back to the news, the listing also reveals that SM-G900F comes with a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974AC) processor, which is currently found only on Gionee Elife E7L along with 3GB RAM, 16MP rear camera, 2MP front facing camera, 32GB internal storage and Android 4.4 KitKat.
In related to the news, according to ZDNet Korea, Samsung will be announcing its first smartphone with QHD (2560×1440p) display at Mobile World Congress (MWC) next year between February 24 – 27. The name of the phone is not mentioned but this phone is all but certain to be the Galaxy S5.
Also, according to SamMobile, Samsung will be including an Iris scanner aka eye scanner on the next Galaxy S smartphone, Galaxy S5 obviously. The new technology will come with quicker detection than retina or fingerprint scanners, thus will add more security to the smartphone.
Previous rumours indicated that the Galaxy S5 will be announced early next year, as early as January. Since, January is a bit far, we will definitely hear more about the phone soon enough.
