Sony Mobile's Creative Director Kurozumi Yoshiro has been addressing the Japanese media after the launch of the new Xperia lead Z2 and Z2 Tablet. He uncovered some intriguing data which we thought we'd impart. The point when Mr. Kurozumi was tested on the brisk progression of flagship launches he answered that it was a capacity of how quick the industry was moving.

Sony Xperia Z2

“In order to maintain a flagship, you must update at this frequency,” said Mr Kurozumi. When the question of Sony not updating the flagship smartphone on an yearly basis like its competitors was pressed upon him, he stated that one cannot catch up on the update frequency with the peers (read as competitors).

He further stated that the Xperia Z2 was going to be a flagship for the first half of 2014 which means that we might see the next Xperia flagship in about 4 months from now, in July. He also went on to talk about the design of the device and said that he “does not want to stick to a single design”, hinting towards the fact that we might see a different design philosophy from the company other than the OmniBalance design which we've seen on the Xperia Z, Z1 and Z2.

So the next Sony flagship might reach us sooner than expected which is when the next-generation Nexus and iPhone smartphones are going to come out. Sony might want to keep ahead of the competitors by launching the flagships sooner than an year. And with that news, we can assume that the Xperia Z3 (or whatever it will be named in final) will hit us by July-August later this year.
