HTC is looking to strengthen its mid-range of devices off late but has been coming up with names for them that we surely don’t understand. It had just launched the Desire 816 and is intending on launching the Desire 316 and Desire 516 soon as well. The smartphones has just been leaked after it was certified by the Chinese authorities at TENAA.
The Desire 516 comes with a 5-inch qHD display unit that has a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. The device will be available in two variants, which would be HTC D516t and HTC D516w. The model for China will be D516t and will come with TD-SCDMA connectivity.
Under the hood will be a 1.3GHz quad-core processor and it will run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Its RAM capacity would stand at 512 MB. At the back will be a 5MP camera with a LED flash and VGA front camera will be present as well.
On the other-hand, the Desire 516w will get a 1.2GHz quad-core processor instead coupled with 1GB RAM. It will run on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and will come with WCDMA connectivity in all likelihood. The camera unit will be similar for both the models.
There's one more model of HTC Desire 516, holding model number D516d and it comes with CDMA connectivity. The Desire 516 comes with dual-SIM support, and has a single-SIM variant too dubbed as HTC Desire 316 (we can individually confirm this).
HTC had recently launched the Desire 816 and Desire 610 to strengthen its mid-range of smartphones and the Desire 316 and 516 will now join the ranks. The smartphones will sit below both of them and will be a cheap so as to cater to a bigger stratum of market.
Let us wait for the official announcement of the devices which will come after the company launches the all new HTC One on the 25th of March.
