Google has been launching Nexus lineup of devices that lead its competitors with real Android experience and performance. Latest reports in the tech media suggest that the company is planning to announce more affordable phones this year.

Google Nexus 5

According to MTKSJ's report, the search engine giant has joined hands with MediaTek, the Taiwan based chip maker for a new Nexus device that is alleged to be a low-end model aimed at the budget market segment.

Entrusted insiders from MediaTek supply chain have noted that this smartphone will be priced for as low as $100 (approx. Rs 6,000). The report goes on stating that as the handset is speculated to be priced too low it wouldn't boast top-tier specifications. It clearly states that this upcoming Nexus phone could be an entry-level model.

If the report is to be believed, then Google will launch two Nexus smartphones this year, one with low-end specs and the other with high-end specs. May be, the low-cost Nexus phone is aimed for the emerging markets, but we need to wait for more details to show up.
