Google previewed the next major Android update named the Android L at the Google I/O 2014 yesterday and HTC seems to be pretty excited about it. As a matter of fact, it has jumped ahead of rest of the manufacturers and has shared its Android L update plans. It has stated that it will start rolling out the Android L update for the One (M7) and One (M8) wihtin 90 days of receiving final software from Google.
This may seem really nice but the fact is that Google itself is still working on Android L and it is still a few months away from releasing it for OEMs. Google hasn’t announced its launch date even but it’s nice to see the Taiwanese manufacturer all excited about the update.
We believe that the Android L update will start rolling out starting September this year so the update for the HTC One lineup could be a nice Christmas present for the customers.
HTC kept its promise last time as well when Android 4.4 KitKat was released so we believe it will do so this time as well. Another point you should keep in mind before jumping to conclusions is that 90 days is the time frame for the global roll out to begin so it might get a little late in some regions but all assured, HTC will try rolling out updates to all the regions at the earliest.
"HTC is excited about the new features in Android L and we can't wait to share them with our customers. We are committed to updating our flagship HTC One family as fast as possible. We will begin rolling out updates to the HTC One (M8) and HTC One (M7) in regions worldwide within 90 days of receiving final software from Google, followed shortly thereafter by other One family members and select devices."
