Micromax brags exclusive rights at CyanogenMod in India, Indian OnePlus One WON'T get software updates [Update]

UPDATE: After a week filled with full of confusion between OnePlus, and Cyanogen and Micromax deal, Cyanogen Inc. has now again clarified that the OnePlus One sold in India (via Amazon India) won't be getting any future updates, as a part of Micromax-exclusive deal. 

Only the global OnePlus One (purchased from outside India) will be getting the future CyanogenMod updates. 

Since we clarified our support for OTA firmware updates for OnePlus One global devices, we’ve received a number of inquiries regarding OnePlus One devices sold in India.

As we had pledged to our users, OnePlus One global devices will receive our OTA firmware updates. If a user in India purchased a OnePlus One global device in channels outside of India, they will receive our OTA firmware updates. However, this excludes OnePlus One regional devices sold directly in India. We are committed to our exclusive partnership in India with Micromax, which will be launching its first Cyanogen OS device under their new YU brand.

Lately, Micromax announced its YU brand of smartphones that will arrive with the CyanogenMod OS pre-installed. Now, it has been confirmed that Cyanogen platform will be exclusive only to Micromax when it comes to rolling out software updates. Cyanogen has signed an agreement to provide exclusive rights to Micromax for the use of the platform in the country.

Similar to LG G Watch, the G Watch R runs on the Android Wear platform and will be showcased at the company's booth at the IFA 2014 event next month.

Samsung has started rolling out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo in India. The update was rolled out to the Korean variant more than four months ago, and finally Samsung has begin updating the international model of the Note 3 Neo. The update is rolling out over-the-air (OTA) and also via Samsung Kies application.

Android 4.4.3 KitKat update with 4G LTE support rolling out in India

HTC has started rolling out the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update for HTC One (M8) in the Indian market. The update not only brings fixes and improvements but also brings the much-awaited 4G LTE support. The 4.4.3 KitKat update for One (M8) is also live in other countries which include Australia and Slovenia. The update is rolling out over-the-air (OTA).

Android 4.4.2 KitKat update now rolling out for Sony Xperia E1, E1 Dual and Xperia M2, M2 Dual

As promised, Sony has started rolling out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Sony Xperia E1, Xperia E1 Dual, Xperia M2 and Xperia M2 Dual in select markets. The update is currently live in some European and Asian countries. As always, the update is rolling out in batches, so it might take some time to reach other countries. 

XOLO Play 8X-1200 with 5-inch display, 2GHz processor launched for Rs. 19,999; Q700s getting Android 4.4.2 KitKat update

After getting spotted on company's official website last week, XOLO on Monday has officially launched the XOLO Play 8X-1200 in the Indian market. The smartphone comes with mid-range specs and will be available in black colour in the coming days. XOLO has launched the Play 8X-1200 in the country for Rs. 19,999. There is no word on XOLO A1000s, which was also spotted on the website last week.

Xiaomi Mi3 getting MIUI KXDMIBF22.0 update in India, Malaysia, Singapore and Philippines

Xiaomi Mi3 got the first major update in India last month which brought loads of fixes, additions and optimizations. Now, Xiaomi has started rolling out a new update for Mi3 in India. The update is not only live in India, but also in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and more countries. The update is rolling out over-the-air.

Samsung UNPACKED 2014 event at IFA slated to happen on September 3rd, Galaxy Note 4 announcement (Update)

Update: Samsung has officially announced that the Unpacked 2014 Episode 2 will take place on September 3rd simultaneously in three cities which include Berlin, Beijing and New York. The invite (below) shows a sketch of the Air Command menu and reads "NOTE THE DATE!", hinting at a new Note series phablet, undoubtedly the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

Earlier: Rumors are rife about the launch date of Samsung Galaxy Note 4, the next generation phablet from the South Korean tech giant. While the device was gossiped to be released on September 3rd or September 4th during the IFA 2014 tech show, the date has been finalized now. Well, the firm has sent out media invites in Netherlands for the Samsung UNPACKED 2014 event that is slated to happen on September 3rd and it will debut at 2PM Berlin time.

Android 4.4.2 KitKat update now rolling out for Gionee Elife E7 Mini in India

Gionee has started rolling out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the Gionee Elife E7 Mini in the Indian market. The same 4.4.2 KitKat update was first rolled out to the Elife S5.5 in India earlier this month. The update will upgrade the version of E7 Mini from Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean to Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The update is not rolling out over-the-air.

Xiaomi rolling out major update for Mi3 in India [MIUI-KXDMIBE18.0]

Xiaomi Mi3 went on sale in India earlier this week via Flipkart for just Rs. 13,999. The smartphone comes with Android 4.4.2 KitKat with MIUI v5 ROM on top. Now, the Chinese smartphone vendor has started rolling out a major update for the Mi3 in India, which upgrades the MIUI version to MIUI-KXDMIBE18.0. The update is available in other countries as well which include Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines.

HTC's first smartwatch with square design gets leaked through official design studio video (update)

Few days back, there were rumors regarding a HTC smartwatch that was leaked via a render. Now, the same wearable device has been spotted in an official video in YouTube. In the short clip, the smartwatch’s square face is shown off and it appears to be akin to the LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live as opposed to the radial face of the Moto 360.

Android 4.4.4 KitKat Release 2 now rolling out for Nexus 5 in India, Australia and New Zealand

Google has started rolling out a new updated version of Android 4.4.4 KitKat for Nexus 5 today. Called as Android 4.4.4 KitKat Release 2, the update is limited to a few countries of the world, which include India, New Zealand and Australia. The update is rolling out over-the-air and brings minor changes. In Australia the update is released on Telsta and in New Zealand on 2Degrees only.

Android 4.4.2 KitKat now rolling out for Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 in India

Samsung has started rolling out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the Galaxy Grand 2 in India. Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 was launched in India earlier this year in January running on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. This is the first major update for the smartphone. The update is rolling out only over-the-air (OTA), it should reach Samsung PC software Kies soon.

Android 4.4.2 KitKat beta update for XOLO Q700s now available for download

XOLO released the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Q1000 Opus back in May which was followed by Q1010 and Q1010i earlier this month. Now, the Indian smartphone vendor has released the beta version of KitKat update for XOLO Q700s online. Since it's a beta release not everyone should install it, as the update might contain bugs and errors. 

Motorola customer support confirms roll-out of Android L update for Moto G and Moto X

While the upcoming iteration of Google’s mobile OS – Android L is in the developer preview phase, the smartphone manufacturers have started confirming the roll-out of the platform to their existing devices. One of the vendors is Motorola that is prompt in rolling out timely updates to its devices. The company recently started rolling out the 4.4.4 KitKat update for Moto E, Moto G and Moto X users in India.

Android 4.4.2 KitKat update now rolling out for Gionee Elife S5.5 in India

Gionee has started rolling out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the Gionee Elife S5.5 in the Indian market. The Elife S5.5 is the world's slimmest smartphone with just 5.5 mm thickness and was launched in India earlier this year in March-end. The update is rolling out over-the-air. There is no word on when the Elife E7 will receive the KitKat update, but it wouldn't take too long.

Many Android smartphone users are awaiting the roll out of KitKat update for their device. In the meantime, a leaked document from Samsung India reveals a list of five Samsung smartphones that will receive the Android 4.4 KitKat update by the end of this month. The handsets are Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy Grand 2, Galaxy Mega 5.8, Galaxy Mega 6.3 and Galaxy Note 3 Neo.

Android 4.4.2 KitKat update now rolling out for XOLO Q1010 and Q1010i

Earlier this year in May, Indian smartphone vendor XOLO rolled out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for XOLO Q1000 Opus. The company then promised to update other smartphones in its Q Core series to the latest iteration of Android. Now, XOLO has started rolling out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for two of its smartphones, the Q1010 and the Q1010i.
