The Taiwanese tech titan HTC announced that it will roll out the upcoming Android L update to the yesteryear flagship model One (M7) and the current device One (M8) within 90 days from the launch of the platform. Following this, the roadmap of update for the HTC devices have been leaked online throwing light on which devices will actually receive the Android L update or any other.
HTC insider Llabtoofer has posted the roadmap chart, which reveals the list of those HTC devices that are likely to receive the Android L platform. Prior to this update, it appears like the One (M7) and One (M8) will receive an update in July or August that will combine the likes of both Android 4.4.3 with changes to the Sense 6.0 and Android 4.4.4 that is a minor update.
Talking about those devices that will receive the Android L update, the leaked roadmap suggests that all the 2013 and 2014 models that are launched so far will be compatible with the update along with Sense 6.x. However, this cannot be the final list of devices as the OS has to be out by Google for the maker to know its system requirements. The confirmed compatible list of devices for Android L update will be announced later this fall.
Lastly, the HTC One Mini will be getting the Sense 6.0 update in July. The smartphone is currently running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Sense 5.5 UI on top. Also, the One (M8) Dual SIM, One Mini 2 and One (E8) will be getting the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update with Sense 6 in August or September.
Nevertheless, HTC has announced the Advantage program that assures software updates for the new HTC devices for two years from the release date.
