Sony Xperia M2 Aqua with 4.8-inch display, Snapdragon 400 processor, IP68 waterproofing announced

Sony on Tuesday silently took the wraps off a new mid-range Android smartphone called the Sony Xperia M2 Aqua. As the name suggest, the M2 Aqua is the water-proofed variant of the original Xperia M2 launched earlier this year. The Xperia M2 Aqua comes in black and white colours and will roll out from Autumn 2014 to markets including Latin America, Asia Pacific and Europe.

Sony Xperia M2 Aqua comes with world's highest level of waterproof rating, i.e. IP65/68 certification. No word on pricing details yet.

As far as specifications are concerned it is the same as original Xperia M2 which include a 4.8-inch qHD display, 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 (MSM8226) processor, Adreno 305 GPU, 1GB RAM and Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The smartphone is 8.6mm thick and weights 149 grams.

Other specifications include an 8MP rear camera with LED flash, 0.3MP (VGA) front facing camera, 8GB internal storage with expandable upto 32GB using microSD card and 2,330 mAh battery. Connectivity series include 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and GPS.
