As expected, XOLO has officially announced the launch of its all new mid-range Android smartphone at a press event held in New Delhi on Wednesday. Dubbed as XOLO 8X-1000, the smartphone comes with company's all new own build HIVE user-interface. The XOLO 8X-1000 comes in black colour and is priced at Rs. 13,999. According to XOLO, the smartphone will be available across the country starting next week.
Talking about HIVE UI first, XOLO says the UI is "Made in India, Made for India." The HIVE UI is based on Android 4.4 KitKat and has a new drop-down quick settings screen featuring circular controls to control the volume levels, adjust the brightness and set the screen timeout. The screen of HIVE UI includes easy control switches to switch between the SIM cards for calls and messages. The UI also features a new lock screen that displays notification icons for missed calls, messages and email.
The latest HIVE UI is also includes a Media Center with last.fm integration for suggestions based on the music you are listening, YouTube integration for accessing songs by trending artists, Dolby DTS with equalizer, Fusion X media player and new Contacts Book with access to all the conversations related to a contact in a single thread. It also has custom themes that will change the look completely and a customizable app drawer.
On the specifications front, XOLO 8X-1000 comes with a 5.0-inch HD IPS display with ASAHI Dragontrail protection and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on back, 1.4GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592M processor, Mali 450-MP4 GPU, 2GB RAM and Android 4.4 KitKat with HIVE UI on top.
Other specifications include an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and EXMOR R sensor, 2MP front facing camera, 16GB internal storage with expandable using microSD card and 1,920 mAh battery. Connectivity series include 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE and A-GPS.
