The first curved display smartphones, LG G Flex and Samsung Galaxy Round have created a great interest among consumers, urging the manufacturers come up with similar devices. It appears like LG Electronics will be announcing one such device that is alleged to the successor of the G Flex dubbed LG G Flex 2 at the CES 2015 tech show in January, claims an Android Authority report.

LG G Flex

The LG G Flex 2 is likely to be an overhauled model of its predecessor and that it will arrive with a high resolution plastic OLED display presumably with Full HD resolution in a small form factor. It is also reportedly to boast a self healing back that was present on the G Flex as well, but with improvements. The report does not reveal the details regarding the other specifications and features of the G Flex 2, expect that it will be major upgrade to the yesteryear model.

LG announced the G Flex in October last year, following the Galaxy Round that also went official in the same month. While the latter is curved along the vertical axis, the LG offering has a spectacular bend from tip to toe. Another interesting aspect of the smartphone it is ability it to return to its normal shape without any damage and the selfie healing protection that prevents minor scratches.

Smartphones with curved displays will definitely take sometime to reach a wider market. However, gradually several models are getting added to this segment and a notable launch is the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. Though it is not similar to the G Flex, it comes with a curved display on one side of it with additional controls and shortcuts.

It is only a month left for the CES 2015 that is slated to happen on January 6 in Las Vegas and by then we can expect to hear more details about the LG G Flex 2.
