Finally after series of leaks and rumours, HTC at an event in MWC at Barcelona has officially announced the much-awaited, successor of One (M8), the HTC One M9. As expected, the HTC One M9 has similar design language as One (M8) and original One, the only difference is visible on the rear side of the phone. As it turns out, almost all of the rumours we had seen come out to be true.

Finally after series of leaks and rumours, HTC at an event in MWC at Barcelona has officially announced the much-awaited, successor of One (M8), the HTC One M9. As expected, the HTC One M9 has similar design language as One (M8) and original One, the only difference is visible on the rear side of the phone. As it turns out, almost all of the rumours we had seen come out to be true.

According to HTC, the One M9 will be available starting mid-March in Asia Pacific including India in Gold, Silver, Grey and Pink color options. The U.S. release is scheduled for early-spring on all major telecom operators. There is no word on pricing details yet.

Talking about the look and feel first, the front of One M9 is unchanged, it included "boomsound" speakers and big black bar that holds the company logo. HTC has revealed that the boomsound speaker now comes with Dolby 5.1 surround sound. When it comes to the sides, the power button has now moved to the right edge of the phone with separated volume rockers.

The One M9 sports a uni-body two tone finish, silver with gold accent ring. Also, the sides are now mirror polished with the back is hair brushed. The back on the other side now comes with single camera setup, no duo camera on M9.

On the software front, HTC One M9 comes with HTC Sense 7 based on Android Lollipop. The new features included in Sense 7 include ability to create themes: tweak the home screen wallpaper, choose its color, re-design the icons, set your own sounds for notifications and also change the font as per liking, Sense Home widget: displays application on the homescreen based on the locations and more.

Additional software features include improved BlinkFeed with meal time suggestion, HTC Connect: swiping on the home screen with three fingers to stream videos and images and find any photos in gallery by face recognition.

Finally, coming to hardware part, the HTC One M9 comes with 5-inch Super LCD3 display with resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and pixel density of 441 ppi, 2GHz octa-core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, Adreno 430 GPU, 3GB RAM and Android 5.0 Lollipop with HTC Sense 7 on top.

The front of One M9 is equipped with Gorilla Glass 4 and the device measures 144.6 x 69.7 x 9.6mm and weighs about 157 grams. On the imaging front, the One M9 comes with a 20MP rear camera sensor with ability to automatically record videos and images simultaneously and dual-tone LED flash. The front facer now has a UltraPixel unit. 

Other specifications include 32GB internal storage with up to 128GB supported microSD card, 2,840 mAh battery and 4G LTE connectivity along with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS, GLONASS, FM radio, IR sensor and NFC.
