After series of leaks and rumours, Sony last month officially took the wraps off the fourth generation Z series smartphone at an event in Japan. Dubbed as Sony Xperia Z4, the smartphone sports signature Sony design with aluminum frame and waterproof build. According to Sony, the Xperia Z4 will be available in four color options ~ White, Black, Copper and Aqua Green later this Summer, starting with Japan.
Sony has not uttered any word on pricing or exact availability details yet, nor there is any information on global roll-out of the phone.
Talking of the specifications, Sony Xperia Z4 comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD Triluminos display with Live Colour LED powered by X-Reality engine, 2.0GHz 64-bit Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, Adreno 430 GPU, 3GB RAM and Android 5.0 Lollipop. The smartphone measures 146 x 72 x 6.9 mm and weights 144 grams.
Just like the predecessor, the Xperia Z4 is also IPX6 certified for dust and IPX5 and IPX8 certified for water resistance. Other specifications include a 20.7MP rear camera with EXMOR RS sensor and LED flash, 5.1MP front facing camera with 25 mm wide-angle lens, 32GB internal storage with expandable up to 128GB using microSD card and 2,930 mAh battery.
The Xperia Z4 also supports Sony’s new LDAC audio compression codec that promises high-quality wireless music playback and high-quality music experience. LDAC was not available in any smartphone until now.
Connectivity series include 4G LTE / 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz / 5GHz) MIMO, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS / GLONASS, MHL 3.0 and NFC.
