Xiaomi had officially announced a new mid-range Android smartphone in the Indian market recently. Dubbed as Xiaomi Mi 4i, the smartphone has been built keeping Indian consumers in mind. According to Xiaomi, the 'i' in the Mi 4i name stands for India, as the phone is inspired by the country and its culture. India will act as the launchpad for Mi 4i.
Xiaomi Mi 4i comes in range of color options which include black, white, blue, yellow and pink colors, all with matte finish. Xiaomi has priced the Mi 4i in the country at just Rs. 12,999, and is available for purchase in the country (in white color only) through online retailer Flipkart via flash sales.
Xiaomi has also announced that the Mi 4i will be also available from all other partners like Amazon, Snapdeal, Airtel and TheMobileStore in the coming months. Xiaomi also plans to launch the handset in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia later this month.
On the specifications front, Xiaomi Mi 4i comes with a 5.0-inch Full HD IPS Fully Laminated display with pixel density of 441 ppi and polycarbonate unibody design, 1.7GHz 64-bit Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 (2nd Generation) processor. Adreno 405 GPU, 2GB RAM and Android 5.0 Lollipop based MIUI v6.
The Mi 4i is the first Xiaomi smartphone to run Android 5.0 with MIUI 6 on top. Xiaomi has included an India-specific feature called Visual Interactive Voice Response (IVR), that allows the users to select IVR options from an on-screen menu for quickly and effectively getting the desired information.
The new MIUI v6 also comes with support for six Indian languages which include Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. As far as imaging is concerned, the Mi 4i comes with 13MP rear camera with two-tone LED flash, 5MP front facing camera, 16GB internal storage which is non-expandable and 3,120 mAh battery.
Connectivity series include 4G LTE / 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS support. The Mi 4i measures 138.1 x 69.6 x 7.8 mm and weights 130 grams and has dual-SIM support, with both SIMs supports 4G LTE for India bands.
