Prerequisites
Unlocking the bootloader of OnePlus 3 is a very simple procedure. But before you get along with it, we recommend that you try to understand what will following this guide actually do to your device.Unlocking Bootloader: This basically means opening of a path or a door to the internal memory of the device where significant writing of data can be done, such as, flashing image files, ROMs etc.
Now before you get started with the procedure you need to setup your PC first in order to execute the steps given.
- Enter the fastboot mode through "Advanced reboot menu" if you have the option or else just turn off your phone and then boot it by holding volume up + power buttons.
- Connect your phone with your PC, then open a command prompt window and type :-
fastboot devices
This command will show a list of connected devices to your PC that are in fastboot mode. If your phone's serial number is present then you can proceed with the guide, else your drivers are not installed properly and you will have to fix them (just follow the installation guide in this link and reboot your PC).
- Now, if your phone is present in the list from the previous step then you can unlock the bootloader with the following command :-
fastboot oem unlockNOTE: Remember that the above step will wipe EVERYTHING off your phone.
- After the above command has finished executing, run the following command :-
fastboot rebootSo, there you have it. You have successfully unlocked the bootloader of your OnePlus 3.
