[CES 2017] Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom with dual-rear camera, 5,000mAh battery officially announced (Spec Sheet)

Earlier: Asus at Zennovation 2017 held at CES has officially took the wraps of the Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom. The ZenFone 3 Zoom is successor to the year old ZenFone Zoom, which came with a camera with optical zoom capability. Following the legacy, the newly announced ZenFone 3 Zoom also comes with a camera with optical zoom, but this time with towed down camera specs for larger battery.

According to Asus, the ZenFone 3 Zoom will be available in three elegant colors including Rose Gold, Glacier Silver and Navy Black. The smartphone will be available for purchase starting February 2017. Pricing, region availability and storage configurations will be shared at a later date.

Talking of Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom, the device comes with metal unibody design. The key feature of ZenFone 3 Zoom is its dual 12MP rear cameras. One 12MP sensor is used for optical zoom purpose and the other is the main camera used for photography.

The primary 12MP camera comes with dual-tone LED flash, Sony IMX362 sensor with 1.4μm pixel size, Dual Pixel Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF), f/1.7 aperture, Laser Autofocus, 3 axis EIS, 4 axis OIS and Asus exclusive SuperPixel technology. This camera sensor comes with a 25mm wide-angle lens. 


The secondary 12MP sensor, on the other hand comes with a 59mm wide-angle lens and 2.3X optical zoom (total zoom up to 12X). The front camera also comes with Sony IMX362 sensor with 1.4μm pixel size for better low light photography.


On the front we have 13MP wide-angle camera with Sony IMX214 sensor, f/2.0 aperture, screen flash and Asus exclusive SuperPixel technology.

We already know that Asus will be launching its first Google Tango-enabled smartphone at CES 2017 called Asus ZenFone AR. Now, an unknown Asus smartphone codename X00GD is spotted on Chinese telecommunication certification regulatory TENAA.

The device in question comes with mid-range specs and is said to run on Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.

The listing on TENAA does not reveal the actual name of this upcoming smartphone, nor it reveals details on pricing or availability.

Talking of the device specifications, Asus X00GD is said to come with a 5.2-inch HD display paired with unnamed 1.5GHz octa-core processor. The smartphone is said to be available in three variants including 2GB RAM + 16GB ROM, 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM and 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM. All the variants will come with expandable memory support using microSD card.

For imaging, the Asus X00GD features a 13MP rear camera with dual LED flash and an 8MP front facing camera. The device also comes with whooping 4850mAh battery, which is pretty big and is expected to last at least two days considering the display is just 5.2-inch with HD resolution.

This upcoming smartphone measures 149.5 x 73.7 x 8.85 mm and weighs 169 grams. It is said to come in three colors including Luxury Gold, Rose Gold and Black.

Another smartphone that was spotted on TENAA is the Asus Z01HDA. The smartphone is said to be the successor of Asus Zenfone Zoom. As per Bluetooth SIG listing, the device might be called the Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom.

According to TENAA listing, the device will comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display, unnamed 2GHz octa-core processor, 2GB/3GB/4GB RAM and run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The device measures 154.3 x 77 x 7.99 mm and weighs 170 grams. It will be available in three color options - Navy Black, New Crafts Silver and Luxury Gold.

Other specifications include dual 16MP rear camera or 12.2MP + 13MP rear camera with dual LED flash, 13MP front facing camera, 16GB/32GB/64GB internal storage with expandable memory using microSD card support and 4850mAh battery.
