One Month Ago, Samsung announced that it sold over 100 million Galaxy S smartphones around the world. Of course, all three Galaxy S models are included here: SIII (40 million units sold), SII (40 million), and the Original Galaxy S (20 million). With this year’s Galaxy S flagship, expected to be called Galaxy SIV, Samsung has way bigger plans.
Jefferies & Company analyst Peter Misek has reportedly informed clients that Samsung is getting ready to manufacture no less than 100 million Galaxy SIV handsets. The analyst notes that some component suppliers may have to “reallocate resources away from Apple” in order to satisfy the high demand from Samsung. Of course, it remains to be seen if Apple will indeed have supply issues when manufacturing its next-generation iPhone.
The Galaxy SIV should be announced by Samsung on March 15. Its highlight features should include a 5-inch Super AMOLED display with 1920 x 1080 pixels, Quad-Core Exynos 5 Octa Processor, 2GB of RAM, 13MP rear camera, and wireless charging capabilities. The new smartphone will have some tough competitors this year, including the iPhone 6/5S, HTC One M7, Sony Xperia Z, and the Google Motorola X. Alongside the Galaxy SIV, Samsung may also plan to launch a smaller and cheaper Galaxy S4 Mini. But that is just a rumor for now.
