Rumours: Google Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 KitKat to get unveiled on October 14th

Google has announced that the next Android version will be called KitKat and will have number 4.4 before it, however the features that we may see in Android 4.4 is still a big secret and also the launch details are not yet revealed. But, according to the folks of AusDroid, Google might announce the next Nexus smartphone, Google Nexus 5 running on Android 4.4 KitKat on 14th October.

Google has announced that the next Android version will be called KitKat and will have number 4.4 before it, however the features that we may see in Android 4.4 is still a big secret and also the launch details are not yet revealed. But, according to the folks of AusDroid, Google might announce the next Nexus smartphone, Google Nexus 5 running on Android 4.4 KitKat on 14th October.

Android 4.4 KitKat

Google Nexus 5 has been leaked numerous of times, and recently a dozen of hi-res images of the upcoming Nexus smartphone was spotted at FCC, which gave a clear look at the smartphone. The new Nexus smartphone will be based on LG G2, and will have the same camera module of LG G2, which means, the Nexus 5 will also come with OIS technology.

According to AusDroid, the features apparently to be delivered in Android 4.4 KitKat include -

  • Firmware availability to older phones
  • Fragmentation changes (screen resizing)
  • Miracast updates
  • New Gallery Visualisation
  • New APIs regarding animations
  • Change android default blue to other preset palette colours
  • New notification widgets

The above described features are just few  and not the official change-log, so take them accordingly. The decision to go from Android 4.3 to Android 4.4 indicates that there will not be a major overhaul to Android as a 5.0 upgrade would indicate.
