XOLO is not alone in 4G LTE race. Reports from The Economic Times reveals that, Micromax is also working on a 4G LTE ready smartphone, and is planning to launch it in December. The news comes with reports of XOLO also planning a launch of a similar device.
XOLO is reported to launch it's first 4G-enabled smartphone in India next month, and by December Indian consumers can have taste of Micromax smartphone with 4G LTE support.
At present, Airtel is the only telecom operator in India which supports 4G LTE network, that too in limited region, while Reliance Industries is set to launch its own pan-India 4G service under the Jio brand by next year.
Globally, and in India, LTE that allows ultra high-speed internet is catching up fast. However, the ecosystem around devices has not developed at all. We see some handset makers looking at LTE devices, but what are your plans? We want to establish ourselves on LTE and offer products that are LTE ready by December, so that consumers would not need to change their handsets whenever voice over LTE becomes available, be it six months or eight months later.
In related to the news, Micromax is also planning to launch Windows phones in India in 2014. And, according to DigiTimes, Micromax has begun shipping its smartphones to Russia and also plans to enter the European market by 2014.
