Samsung officially announces Galaxy Camera 2 with 16.3MP camera sensor, 21x optical zoom lens and NFC support

Samsung has officially took the wraps off the next generation Galaxy Camera today. Dubbed as Samsung Galaxy Camera 2, the device comes with upgraded processor, new design, double RAM and more. The Galaxy Camera 2 comes in two colours, Black and White. Samsung will showcase the Galaxy Camera 2 at CES, which is starting from January 7th, 2014 in Las Vegas. No word on pricing and availability details yet.

Feature-wise, the Galaxy Camera 2 comes with a 4.8-inch HD Super Clear Touch LCD display with 306 ppi pixel density, 16.3MP 1/2.3-inch BSI CMOS sensor, 21x Optical Zoom Lens with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), 1.6GHz quad-core processor (probably Cortex-A9 chipset), 2GB RAM and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

The camera also comes with a built-in pop-up Xenon flash, dedicated Auto Focus light, 8GB internal storage, where only 2.8GB is user available, with 64GB expandable using microSD card and 2,000 mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy Camera 2 is 19.3mm thick and weighs 283g. Connectivity series include WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, WiFi HT40, GPS/GLONASS, Bluetooth v4.0 and NFC support. Unlike the first Galaxy Camera, the new one lacks supports for 4G LTE or 3G connectivity. Though it is possible to see the 3G-enabled Galaxy Camera 2 in the near future.

Other features include, 28 SmartModes, Samsung Link, Samsung ChatON, Story Album, Xtremera, Paper Artist, S Voice, Group Play, Smart mode suggest and more. The smartphone also comes pre-loaded with Dropbox app, which provides 50GB of free cloud storage for up to two years.
