Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for Sony Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra now rolling out

Sony has officially confirmed that they have started rolling out the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for Sony Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra starting today. The update is rolling out via OTA (over-the-air) and also via Sony's PC companion software. The update brings all the changes which Google introduced with the Android 4.3 update, along with several of Sony's own enhancement.

Sony has officially confirmed that they have started rolling out the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for Sony Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra starting today. The update is rolling out via OTA (over-the-air) and also via Sony's PC companion software. The update brings all the changes which Google introduced with the Android 4.3 update, along with several of Sony's own enhancement.

Sony Xperia Z1

The Xperia Z Ultra was announced in July with Android 4.2 on-board and the Xperia Z1 was announced at IFA 2013 which also came with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The new update brings the following features:
  • Project Butter performance, UI optimisation and a smoother graphical experience.
  • Sony's Smart Social Camera which debuted on Xperia Z1 now comes to Xperia Z Ultra.
  • Updated core Sony apps with under the hood optimization and small changes – Messaging, MyXperia, Smart Connect, Small apps, TrackID, Sony Select and …
  • Enhanced Media applications – Album, WALKMAN and Movies
  • Unique custom interface experience: "Xperia Themes", with downloadable UI packs from Sony Select
  • The latest Android security enhancements, matched with Sony’s mobile enterprise solution: Xperia in Business
The update is rolling out in batches and might take some time to reach on your smartphone or phablet. Sony has noted in the press release that they will be revealing details about the Android 4.3 roll-out for other Xperia devices soon.
