HTC Desire 816 with 5.5-inch display, Snapdragon 400 processor, 13MP camera, 1.5GB RAM officially announced

HTC has officially took the wraps off the HTC Desire 816 at Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona today. The Desire 816 is the Desire 8 with a new name and comes with a 5.5-inch display. The phablet is the company's flagship mid-range smartphone. According to HTC, the Desire 816 will be available starting next month in China, with April availability to other countries.

HTC has officially took the wraps off the HTC Desire 816 at Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona today. The Desire 816 is the Desire 8 with a new name and comes with a 5.5-inch display. The phablet is the company's flagship mid-range smartphone. According to HTC, the Desire 816 will be available starting next month in China, with April availability to other countries.

Specifications-wise, HTC Desire 816 comes with a 5.5-inch HD display, 1.6GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, Adreno 305 GPU, 1.5GB RAM, Android Jelly Bean with Sense 5.5 UI and dual front-facing speakers. The smartphone will be available in range of colours including Orange, Green, White, Black, Gray and Purple.

Other specifications include 13MP rear camera with LED flash, 5MP front facing camera, 8GB internal storage with expandable memory using microSD card and 2,600 mAh battery. Connectivity series include 3G / 4G, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v4.0, NFC and GPS with GLONASS. The smartphone is 7.99mm thick and weighs 165 grams and has optional dual-SIM variant too, which will most probably launch in India soon.
