Sundar Pichai talks about Galaxy S6, next Nexus smartphone, Android security and more

Sundar Pichai, Vice President of Android and Chrome at Google answered a few questions at the MWC regarding the recent developments in the technology world. He spoke about the Nokia X, Samsung, Security of Android, the next Nexus smartphone and the acquisition of WhatsApp by the social networking giant Facebook.

Motorola to launch Moto X in India in the next few weeks

Motorola announced the Moto G in India earlier this month, which no doubt is the best mid-range smartphone money can buy today. Seeing the fact that Motorola has been welcomed well in India, Moto X will also touch down on Indian shores. Motorola has announced at its MWC 2014 press conference that, the company will be launching the Moto X in India and Australia in the next few weeks.

Samsung Exynos 5422 Octa and Exynos 5260 Hexa processor officially announced

Samsung has always had a things for its Exynos family of chipsets. It started the trend by launching the Galaxy S4 with an Exynos and a Snapdragon variant and the same was carried on to the Galaxy Note 3 as well. It also has plans to launch the Galaxy S5 with an Exynos chipset. The company has finally announced two new versions of the Exynos chipsets, a Hexa-Core unit and a Octa-Core unit.

Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 610 and Octa-Core Snapdragon 615 processors with 64-bit architecture announced

Qualcomm, the leading chipset manufacturer has introduced three new chipsets at the MWC 2014. It has launched Snapdragon 801 which will fit in between the Snapdragon 800 and 805, Snapdragon 610 and Snapdragon 615 which are 64-bit chipsets from the company.

WhatsApp soon to add voice-call function, probably in Q2 2014

WhatsApp which was recently acquired by Facebook is planning to take the battle on to the likes of Viber and other free calling applications. At the MWC 2014, it has just announced that it now has a user base of 465 million and it will finally jump on to the calling wagon in the second quarter of 2014.

HTC Desire 610 with 4.7-inch qHD display, quad-core processor, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean officially announced

Along with HTC Desire 816, HTC has also announced a new mid-range Android smartphone with LTE connectivity. Dubbed as HTC Desire 610, the smartphone will be available across Europe beginning May 2014. Similar to Desire 816, the Desire 601 also comes in range of colours like White, Black, Gray, Green, Orange and Dark Blue. No word on pricing details yet.

HTC Desire 816 with 5.5-inch display, Snapdragon 400 processor, 13MP camera, 1.5GB RAM officially announced

HTC has officially took the wraps off the HTC Desire 816 at Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona today. The Desire 816 is the Desire 8 with a new name and comes with a 5.5-inch display. The phablet is the company's flagship mid-range smartphone. According to HTC, the Desire 816 will be available starting next month in China, with April availability to other countries. 

Sony Xperia M2 and M2 dual with 4.8-inch display, quad-core processor, 8MP camera, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean officially announced

Along with Xperia Z2 and Z2 Tablet, Sony has also launched a mid range smartphone in the form of Xperia M2 which will come in single as well as dual SIM guise. It has a 4.8-inch qHD capacitive touch screen display which has a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. We think that Sony should have made it atleast a 720p unit as the qHD resolution looks a bit stretched on a 4.8-inch screen. It runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and might get the KitKat treatment as well in near future.

Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet with 10.1-inch display, 3GB RAM, Snapdragon 801 processor, 6,000 mAh battery officially announced

Sony has also launched the Xperia Z2 Tablet at the MWC 2014 along with Xperia Z2, and the tablet will be going up against the likes of the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2. The tablet is just 6.4mm in terms of thickness and comes with a 10.1-inch Full HD WUXGA Live Color LED display. The tablet is water and dust proof like its smartphone siblings and is the world’s thinnest waterproof tablet.

Sony Xperia Z2 with 5.2-inch Full HD display, Snapdragon 801 processor, 20.7MP camera officially announced

Sony has started its product offensive for the year 2014 by announcing the Xperia Z2 smartphone, the successor to the very popular Xperia Z1. The same has been given a minor overhaul which makes it a good buy but not worth enough for an upgrade. It gets a 5.2-inch TRILUMINOUS display unit with a Full HD resolution and it now gets Live Colour LED functionality. The Live Colour LED functionality allows one to boost the colours of the display while it avoids over saturation at the same point of time.

Nokia has officially announced the much awaited and leaked Nokia X smartphone at MWC in Barcelona today. The company has not only announced the Nokia X, but has also announced two more Android smartphones under Nokia X series, yeah two more. All the three smartphones from Nokia are priced decently and will be available across the globe from Q2 2014, where the Nokia X will go on sale immediately.

Water and dust resistant Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo powered by Tizen OS officially announced

Samsung has officially announced two new smartwatches earlier today, which are very different from the original Galaxy Gear, not in terms of look, but in terms of software and features. Dubbed as Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo, the devices runs on Samsung's own open-source OS Tizen, rather than Android, as rumoured. This is the reason why Samsung has ditched the Galaxy moniker, as it's no longer an Android device.

So it might be called Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo, or the watches might be running Tizen and might adopt a new branding.

Nokia X with Android KitKat leaks in live pictures, shows off its tile based UI

Samsung to showcase Exynos Infinity processor with 64-bit architecture at MWC in Barcelona

The Exynos family of processors has always offered top notch performance and now it is ready to take on the 64 bit unit of the iPhone 5S. Samsung has teased an Exynos Infinity processor to be showcased at the MWC in Barcelona and the processor will be a 64-bit unit in all likelihood.

HTC Desire 8 specifications leaked along with new press images, to come with a 5.5-inch HD display, 13MP camera and Android 4.4 KitKat

HTC is all set to announce its first mid-range Android phablet dubbed as HTC Desire 8 at the MWC 2014 next week. The smartphone has already been teased once by HTC on Chinese social networking website Weibo, and now again HTC has revealed another press image of the upcoming phone confirming the looks. In addition to the images, prolific leaker @evleaks has revealed the specifications of Desire 8 (codenamed HTC A5).
