Samsung mid-range smartphone running Android 4.4.2 KitKat leaked

Samsung is struggling in the mid-range smartphone department courtesy of the budget handsets from various Chinese and Indian vendors. It is due to launch the next flagship, the Galaxy S5 on February 24 but it is quietly working on strengthening its mid-range as well. The details of an upcoming mid-ranger, SM-G310 have just leaked on to the interweb and it looks promising for a mid-ranger.

The SM-G310 is believed to be undergoing tests in India, where Samsung is the number 1 company when it comes to sales of smartphones and tablets. The smartphone will be a budget handset which will feature a 4-inch display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels which further suggests that it will indeed be a sub-Rs. 10,000 device. It will come with dual as well as single SIM functionality.

Powering the smartphone will be 1.2 GHz dual-core Broadcom BCM2763 processor. But the sweetest bit about the device will be the fact that it will feature Android 4.4.2 KitKat which will make it the cheapest offering in the company's lineup to run on the latest version of Android. The smartphone has not really shown off its face and is under the wraps so its launch announcement could still be around a month or two away from now.

The listing of the smartphone on a bill has leaked all the information but it shows that the device will be priced around Rs. 16,000, which we highly doubt as Samsung has better offerings in that price range. The likes of Micromax, Karbonn, XOLO and Gionee have hurted the sales of Samsung pretty severely. Will it be able to regain some of its lost ground with the budget device SM-G310, is something that remains to be seen.
