World's slimmest smartphone, Gionee Elife S5.5 with octa-core processor launched in India for Rs. 22,999

As promised, Gionee has officially launched the world's slimmest smartphone, the Gionee Elife S5.5 in India today. The smartphone was originally announced last month in China, and is just 5.5 mm thin. The Elife S5.5 comes in a slew of color options such as Black, White, Purple, Pink and Blue and is priced at Rs. 22,999. According to Gionee, the Elife S5.5 will be available in India starting April 27th.

As promised, Gionee has officially launched the world's slimmest smartphone, the Gionee Elife S5.5 in India today. The smartphone was originally announced last month in China, and is just 5.5 mm thin. The Elife S5.5 comes in a slew of color options such as Black, White, Purple, Pink and Blue and is priced at Rs. 22,999. According to Gionee, the Elife S5.5 will be available in India starting April 27th.

Gionee Elife S5.5 is a single SIM smartphone that is based on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean topped with the proprietary Amigo 2.0 UI. The handset includes a 5.0-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood, the device is packed with an octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor clocked at 1.7GHz supplemented with 2GB of RAM. 

On the photography front, the Elife S5.5 features a 13MP rear snapper with LED flash and a 5MP front-facer for video calling sessions. The smartphone has 16GB of on-board storage that unfortunately cannot be expanded using a microSD card and has a 2,300 mAh battery.

Connectivity series include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, USB OTG, 3G and GPS for data connectivity.
