Rumors are rife suggesting that Google is planning to unwrap an all new Nexus tablet in the second half of this year. Earlier this week, we reported that Google is planning to launch an 8.9-inch Nexus tablet this year, and now CNET and Digitimes are reporting the same. As per reports from CNET, the gossiped tablet’s production will start either in July or August.
The report cites Rhoda Alexander, the Director of Tablet and Monitor Research at IHS Technology claiming that the rumored Nexus tablet, say Nexus 9 for now, will feature an 8.9-inch display with high levels of performance. Also, it is suggested that the proposed tablet will be launched in minimal units.
Talking about the pricing of the rumored Nexus 9 tablet, the report states that the device could be priced slightly higher than the price point of $299, which is approximately Rs. 18,300. Obviously, this price tag will go up with the inclusion of VAT and tax. Furthermore, it is claimed that the Nexus 9’s sole manufacturer would be the Taiwanese vendor HTC in partnership with Google for the software aspects.
The price tag of $299 for the proposed Nexus 9 tablet will put it on par with the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX and Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4, both flaunting 2560 x 1600 pixels display. Hence, the Nexus 9 can also be expected to have a similar display. Digitimes report indicates that the rumored tablet will arrive with 2K resolution or higher, while other reports hint at a 64-bit quad-core Intel Bay Trail-T chipset.
Take this news with a pinch of salt as it is still a rumor. Google usually releases its tablet in Summer and Google I/O event will take place on 25th and 26th of June this year, and we believe that will be the perfect time to launch the next Nexus tablet.
