Updating your mid rangers to the latest software seems like the avenue the smartphone manufacturers are looking towards in order to gain a share of the mid-range segment. LG has announced that it will be updating the G Pro Lite and Optimus L9 II to Android 4.4.2 KitKat and has confirmed the fact through its Italy Facebook page.

Android KitKat

According to LG, the Optimus L9 II will get the KitKat update “in the coming weeks” and on the other hand, the G Pro Lite will gets towards the fag end of June. Reports have started cropping up from Slovakia stating that the L9 II has started getting the update so other parts of the world should follow soon too.

The LG G Pro Lite is on sale in India while the Optimus sibling isn’t. The devices were launched with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and have skipped the Android 4.3 update. LG will instead update them to 4.4.2 KitKat right away.

Talking about the update, it will bring the software goodies that come along with the KitKat update and will bring better RAM management, immersive mode for media playback, cloud-print support, UI improvements, smart caller ID by Google, SMS integration in Hangouts and so on and so forth.

LG has finally taken fancy to updating its devices with latest software versions on time and that will surely help it gain a stronger grip over the segment.
