Samsung is heavily rumored by the gossip mongers regarding its upcoming standalone smartwatch with a built-in SIM card to make voice calls. But, it seems like the South Korean tech giant has got more devices up its sleeves. As per latest reports, the vendor appears to be having ideas to work on a circular display smartwatch similar to the Moto 360.

Samsung Circular Smartwatch

US Patents filings from last year reveals that the world’s largest smartphone maker is prepping a new circular smartwatch with a new interface that will take advantage of circular display. Also, it reveals a new gesture based navigation system and presence of optical sensor on the wristband.

It is highlighted that this alleged smartwatch will not be a standalone device tipping that it has to be paired with a smartphone or a tablet to alert the user about notifications. It is unclear on which platform Samsung will be powering this new smartwatch with circular display. May be, it could run on Tizen OS that supports gesture based interactions.

Though Samsung has filed a patent for a circular display smartwatch, there is no evidence that this device will be launched in the market for sure. There are many patents that never see the light of the day.
