Last year, Samsung started making several variants of its flagship model by announcing the Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy S4 Mini and Galaxy S4 Zoom. This year too, Samsung is said to follow the same pattern and it has already made the Galaxy K Zoom official. However, the Galaxy S5 Active presumably the rugged variant has no purpose as the Galaxy S5 itself comes with an IP67 certification that makes it water proof and dust resistant. However, it appears like Samsung is not going to pull back the rugged variant.

As per latest reports, the Galaxy S5 Active carrying the model number G870A has popped up on AnTuTu benchmark and the test scores reveal details about the internals employed in the phone. Fueled by Android 4.4.2 KitKat, the device appears to be stuffed with a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC paired with 2GB of RAM.

The display will be a Full HD one packing 1080p resolution that is an improvement from its predecessor. Also, the Galaxy S5 Active has an identical camera set as the original model featuring a 16MP primary camera and a 2MP front-facer.

However, there is no official word from Samsung regarding the Galaxy S5 Active and we need wait until we get more details surrounding the device.
