Many Android smartphone users are awaiting the roll out of KitKat update for their device. In the meantime, a leaked document from Samsung India reveals a list of five Samsung smartphones that will receive the Android 4.4 KitKat update by the end of this month. The handsets are Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy Grand 2, Galaxy Mega 5.8, Galaxy Mega 6.3 and Galaxy Note 3 Neo.
It appears like the updates have already been finalized and they are ready to be rolled out to the devices. Though the source is a reputable insider, the authenticity of the report remains unknown and it is not clear if the updates are restricted only for the aforementioned smartphone models in India.
Also, the models numbers SM-G7102 and GT-I9152 suggest that the dual SIM variants of Galaxy Grand 2 and Galaxy Mega 5.8 will receive the update, but there is no mention of the single SIM variants. Unfortunately, the Galaxy S3 with the model number GT-I9300 will not receive the Android KitKat update and this has been confirmed numerous times.
If you own any of these aforementioned smartphones, you can head on to Settings > More > About Device > Software Updates to check for the OTA update. Also, the update will bring in white status bar icons, camera shortcut on lock-screen, wireless printing, album art on lock-screen during music playback, options to set default messaging and launcher apps, transparent status bar, better stability, improved RAM usage, smoother interface, Samsung Wallet and Emoji for Keyboard.
