Micromax Canvas A1 Android One smartphone launched in India for Rs. 6,499, retailing exclusively on Amazon.in

It's not only Spice and Karbonn, Micromax has also announced its first Android One smartphone in the country earlier today. Called Micromax Canvas A1, the smartphone was first teased back in June at the Google I/O 2014. Like other Android One smartphones, the Canvas A1 also comes with entry-level specifications. The smartphone comes in black and white colours and is priced at Rs. 6,499.

Micromax is exclusively retailing the Canvas A1 in the country via Amazon India. The first batch of Canvas A1 is already out of stock and according to Amazon India, the second batch will be up for purchase again at mid-night.

As an introductory offer, Amazon India is offering the Canvas A1 with free Strontium 8GB MicroSDHC memory card, 10% cash back on State Bank Debit & Credit cards and 1,610 lucky purchasers to get Amazon.in Gift Cards worth up to Rs.10,000.

Micromax has also announced that the Canvas A1 will be available from brick and mortar retailers before Diwali. In addition, Airtel users will be able to download up to 200MB worth of apps from the Google Play Store every month for 6 months for free and will also be able to download Android updates for free for the first 6 months.

As far as specifications are concerned, Micromax Canvas A1 comes with a 4.5-inch FWVGA IPS LCD display with resolution of 854 x 480 pixels, 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor, Mali-400 MP GPU, 1GB RAM and Android 4.4.4 KitKat. The smartphone measures 132 x 67 x 9 mm and weights 136 grams.

Other specifications include an 5MP rear camera with LED flash and Full HD 1080p video recording, 2MP front facing camera, 4GB internal storage with expandable upto 32GB using microSD card and 1,700 mAh battery. Connectivity series include 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and A-GPS.

Additional features include 35GB of Google Drive storage and pre-loaded apps such as Amazon, Hike, Ask Me and M!Live.
