Google has finally launched the Android One initiative in the Indian market. The first and the cheapest of three Android One smartphones that are launched in India is the Spice Dream UNO. The smartphone was spotted on Flipkart recently and comes with entry-level specifications. The Spice Dream UNO comes in black and white colours and is priced at Rs. 6,299.
The smartphone is now available for purchase exclusively from online retailer Flipkart. As an introductory offer, Flipkart is offering the Dream UNO with free screenguard, Rs. 200 recharge from Freecharge, free preselected eBooks worth Rs. 1000 on Flipkart eBooks app, Rs. 1,500 off on purchase via Myntra app, flat 50% off on Spice Dream UNO flipcovers and free Sandisk 8GB memory card.
According to Spice, the Dream UNO will be available from brick and mortar retailers around Diwali. Also, Airtel users will be able to download up to 200MB worth of apps from the Google Play Store every month for 6 months for free and will also be able to download Android updates for free for the first 6 months.
On the specifications front, Spice Dream UNO comes with a 4.5-inch FWVGA IPS LCD display with resolution of 854 x 480 pixels, 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor, Mali-400 MP GPU, 1GB RAM and Android 4.4.4 KitKat. The smartphone measures 132 x 67 x 9.15 mm and weights 107 grams.
Other specifications include an 5MP rear camera with LED flash and Full HD 1080p video recording, 2MP front facing camera, 4GB internal storage with expandable upto 32GB using microSD card and 1,700 mAh battery. Connectivity series include 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and A-GPS.
Additional features include 10GB of Spice Cloud storage, 35GB of Google Drive storage and pre-loaded apps such as Flipkart, Flipkart Ebook, Reverie Smartpad and Facebook.
